So tonight I got home and Richard was sound asleep already. He must have gone to bed really early. Poor kid. He had been up way too late with his friends last night. So I went up and gave him a kiss and shut off the light he had left on so he’d wake up if he heard me. I went downstairs and dived into the pizza he had brought home. After a glass of wine I finally felt relaxed after a long day at my almost over job. I went down to the kitchen to put my plate in the dishwasher. That’s when I happened to look at the fish tank. No water flow. You see, we keep live plants and as they deteriorate (because the fish tend to eat them, but they are so pretty we keep buying more) the particles clog up the filter. It was clogged pretty good. I reached in and pulled the top off the intake to clean it out. When I put it back on I tried to get some of the air out of the filter.
Long story short, I had to re-prime the whole damn filter. Meaning start the siphon of water over. Which meant having to replace a piece that broke two weeks ago. Which meant taking it apart. At midnight… my whole canister filter taken apart, repaired, and replaced. Shit.
So I get it all done and put back and am wiping up the water that inadvertently gets on the floor when I do anything to the filter, when I noticed a puddle drying on the side of the tank. The side?? There’s no way any tank maintenance would splash over there… So I grab some paper towels to wipe it up. It was yellow.
Piss.
CAT piss.
On the floor of the new house. So I’m concerned, because in my experience, if you find it once, there’s probably more. AND, if they start doing it they DO NOT stop. Nature’s Miracle never helped. I cannot believe they started pissing now. I have enough going on. Not to mention my parents are coming for a visit, and if they find out the cats are pissing the house I don’t know what they’ll do! I’ll be jobless and homeless.
